WELLINGTON, Florida, Jan. 15, 2018–Shelly Francis of the United States topped the Adequan Global Dressage Festival prize money earnings after success on two horses in the first week of the winter circuit. Riders from four nations filled the top four places.
Shelly of neighboring Loxahatchee rode Doktor and Danilo in the World Cup and CDI3* Big Tour events to earn a total of $5,700 in the first week of the 2018 circuit.
Sweden’s seven-time Olympian Tinne Vilhelmsson-Silfvén competing Paridon Pagi in her campaign for a start at the World Cup Final in Paris in April was second with $4,300 in the money earning rankings compiled by dressage-news.com.
Canada’s Jill Iriving competing for the first time since a European tour last summer with her Grand Prix mounts Arthur and Degas was third in the standings with $3,100, with six more CDIs to go.
Juan Matute, Jr., the 20-year-old Florida-based rider who competed different horses at young rider, under-25 and Big Tour was fourth on the money list with $2,900.
The Wellington circuit of seven CDIs, including the only big money CDI5* and CDI4* events in the Western Hemisphere, has a total purse of about $600,000.
