ERMELO, Netherlands, Aug. 6, 2017–Lordswood Dancing Diamond won the 6-year-old World Young Horse Championship, the Hanoverian gelding ridden by Anne-Kathrin Pohlmeier of Germany to a score that included two 10s.

The black gelding (Dancier x Wolkenstein II) received a total of 9.72 points, with 10 for trot, 9.3 for walk, 9.5 for canter, 9.8 submission and 10 for perspective. The 10s were the only maximum marks awarded to any of the 15 horses in the six-year-old championship final.

Governor, the Totilas/Jazz KWPN stallion ridden by Adelinde Cornelissen of the Netherlands, won silver with a score of 9.06 with Quel Filou OLD, the Oldenburg gelding by Quarterback/Stedinger, taking bronze on 8.99.

Feodoro, the Fürstenball/Rosario Hanoverian gelding that had won the qualifier for the final with Australia’s Simone Pearce tied for seventh on 8.64 points in the championship while Gerion ridden by fellow Aussie Briana Burgess tied for ninth on 8.44, by far the best results ever for Australians in these championships.

(An earlier version gave the incorrect placing for third. The official results were changed after completion of the class.)
