WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 26, 2017–Laura Graves rode Fizau in developing Prix St. Georges for scores above 70 per cent in her campaign to qualify for the United States championships in August.

In the first competition at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival for Fizau, Laura and the eight-year-old Westfalen gelding (Fidertanz x Maquisard) scored 70.294 per cent for the win in the national class Saturday and 71.103 per cent to place second Sunday.

Laura, the No. 5 rider in the world on her Olympic team bronze medal mount Verdades, said Fizau’s personality made him the favorite in their barn in Geneva, Florida.

Laura does not plan to compete Verdades again before the World Cup Final in Omaha Mar. 27-April 2. The pair top the North American League standings and go into the Final with two 80 per cent Grand Prix this winter circuit, only the second American and one of 14 riders in the world to achieve 80 per cent at CDI Grand Prix.
