WELLINGTON, Florida, Jan. 31, 2015–Boyd Martin, the Australian turned American Olympic team rider, won the inaugural Wellington Eventing Showcase on Trading Aces Saturday, staged at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center’s dressage complex.

Boyd, married to the popular U.S. dressage team rider Silva Martin, raved about the quality of the event at the Global dressage grounds and its $50,000 (€44,300) in prize money making it the second richest event in America, behind only the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day 4*.

Riders from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the U.S. competed in the event in which the cross country course was designed by Mark Phillips.

Boyd of Cochranville, Pennsylvania challenged Michael Jung of Germany, Andrew Nicholson of New Zealand, William Fox-Pitt of Great Britain and Chris Burton of Australia to come and join the party next year that organizer Mark Bellissimo of Equestrian Sport Productions promised to double the prize money.

Mark said ESP is also exploring creating a second 4* at his new show grounds in Tryon, North Carolina.
