dressage_pin_gold finalLEXINGTON, Kentucky, May 28, 2014–A United States Equestrian Federation Gold Medal of Distinction has been created to honor American dressage riders who have earned team or individual medals or multiple top placings in international events.

Active competitors will be encouraged to wear the custom designed pin on their shadbelly coats at events, similar to medals awarded in Germany.

The first presentation will be on Saturday, June 14, at the U.S. Equestrian Team Foundation headquarters in Gladstone, New Jersey during the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions presented by The Dutta Corp. Currently, 17 athletes are eligible for the award.

American riders must meet at least one of five requirements :

-Member of a medal-winning team at either an Olympic Games or World Equestrian Games;

-Winner of individual medal at Olympics or WEG;

-Winner of individual medal at World Cup Final.

-Winner of 10 Grand Prix in CDI3* or above, and has placed three or more times in the top 10 at a CDI3* or above outside of North America with a score of at least 70 per cent. This criterion is not retroactive.

–Awarded at the discretion of the USEF Dressage High Performance Committee.
