A Danish team of Anna Kasprzak on Donnperignon, Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein on Digby, Andreas Helgstrand on Akeem Foldager and Lone Bang Larsen on Fitou L will represent the host nation at the European Championships in Herning next month.

The squad for the championships was announced Monday by coach Rudolf Zeillinger, who also named Thomas Sigtenbjerggaard on Nintendo as the reserve for the team he believes is a medal prospect.

“It’s a really strong team we have put up for the European Championships,” he said. “Our team is made up of really good riders, so we are really strong for a team medal. In dressage, anything can happen, and on the right day it is not inconceivable that one of our riders can win an individual medal.”

The same riders competed as a Nations Cup team at the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany last month and placed second behind Germany.

The European Championships of dressage, jumping and para-dressage in Herning will be the largest equestrian event ever in Denmark and the largest equestrian event in the world in 2013.
