LOXAHATCHEE, Florida, Mar. 2–California’s Mette Rosencrantz and Finally won the Grand Prix Special at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby World Cup event Saturday, only their third show since beginning their CDI Grand Prix career five weeks ago.

Mette, based in Topango, and the 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding (De Niro x Capri Sonne x Caprimond) scored 66.875 per cent for their first CDI victory, with Canadians Evi Strasser and Action Tyme second on 65.750 per cent and Cheryl Meisner and Tango third on 65.000 per cent.

Mette and Finally were successful at small and at Grand Prix in national competitions.

She moved to Florida for this winter’s circuit and this week’s derby was the third CDI show at Grand Prix for the pair.

Caroline Roffman of Wellington, Florida, and Her Highness O won the Judy Guden Memorial Intermediate I with a score of 71.211 per cent, Kimberly Herslow of Stockton, New Jersey and Rosmarin were second on 70.868 per cent and Silva Martin of Unionville, Pennsylvania and Rose Cha W were third on 69.158 per cent.

The I-1 was in honor of Judy Guden, who with her husband Al, owned Sagacious HF. She died of breast cancer shortly after Sagacious ridden by Lauren Sammis won team gold and individual silver medals at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Al Guden is engaged to marry Andrea, Caroline’s mother.

“I was so proud of Caroline’s ride today,” Al said. “She said she was riding in Judy’s memory today.”
