Patrik Kittel, the two-time Olympian for Sweden, announced Thursday he and Sjef Janssen, his trainer for several years, will go their separate ways.

“Due to more and more commitments of my own and Sjef wanting to have only a few students so that he has more time for his family, we have made the mutual aggrement not to train together anymore,” Patrik said at the World Cup event in Lyon, France where he competed Watermill Scandic H.B.C. “I have learnt a lot from Sjef and we had some really succesful times.

“I will now search for another trainer until then Lyndal will be my eyes on the ground.

“Sjef and his wife Anky remain close friends with us on a personal level.”

Lyndal Oatley is his wife, who rides for Australia and competed on that country’s team at the London Olympic Games.

The pair are based in Germany.

Sjef has been the Dutch team coach for the past eight years but also gave up that post. He is, however, training Matthias Alexander Rath with Totilas and other horses.
