OTTAWA, Ontario, June 20–Ashley Holzer and Breaking Dawn, Jacqueline Brooks and D Niro and David Marcus and Chrevi’s Capital were named by Equine Canada Wednesday as the dressage team for the Olympic Games beginning in London mext month.

The team:

–Ashley Holzer, who lives in New York City, is heading to her fourth Olympics–she represented Canada at the Beijing Games in 2008, in Athens in 2004 and the bronze medal-winning team in Seoul in 1988–with the 11-year-old KWPN gelding (Akribori x Eveline x L.Ronald) previously named Ultiems Flemming, Breaking Dawn is owned by P.J. Rizvi whose husband is one of the producers of the phenomenally popular movie series for which the horse is named and whose barn name is “Edward” after one of the lead characters. Ashley has been competing Edward at Grand Prix since last November, all the shows in North America. Her 2008 Olympic mount, Pop Art, is a reserve.

–Jacqueline Brooks of Cedar Valley, Ontario, is taking the 13-year-old gray Swedish Warmblood gelding (D-Day x Alitalia x Napoleon 625) owned by Brookhaven Dressage Inc. to London. Jacquie has been competing D Niro at Grand Prix for less than a year in Canada and the United States, with consistently upwardly trending results. Jacqueline was on the Canadian team at the 2008 Olympics.

–David Marcus of Campbellville, Ontario, will have been a Canadian citizen for not much more than seven months when he rides Chrevi’s Capital into the Olympic equestrian stadium. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, David went to college in Canada and stayed, building a dressage training business. He began competing the 12-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding (Chrevi’s Lavallo x Indira Gandhi x Weinberg) owned by Deborah Miculinic at international level in February.

The reserves are Diane Creech of Caistor Centre, Ontario and Devon L owned by Douglas and Louise Leatherdale, and Pia Fortmuller of DeWinton, Alberta, and Orion owned by Pia and Dagmar Fortmuller.

Jacquie Brooks told dressage-news.com she will be having, “Well… Big party Sat night!!”

D Niro and Chrevi’s Capital will fly to England next week and the three Canadian team members are schduled to compete at the Hartpury CDI3* the first week of July.
