LAUSANNE, Switzerland, JUNE 8–The World Cup Jumping and Dressage Finals in 2015 have been awarded to Guadalajara, Mexico, beating out Las Vegas for the annual global championship, the International Equestrian Federation announced Friday.

Aachen, Germany, was selected for the European Championships in Jumping, Dressage, Driving, Vaulting and Reining Aug. 17-30, 2015, the same venue as the 2006 World Equestrian Games and the annual World Equestrian Festival CHIO.

The FEI Bureau also awarded the World Dressage Championships for Young Horses to Verden, Germany, its home for several years, to be held  Aug. 6-10, 2014, and Aug. 5-9, 2015.

European Dressage Championships for Young Riders & Juniors were awarded to Arezzo, Italy, July 9-13, 2014.

Guadalajara hosted the 2011 Pan American Games, one of the world’s largest sporTing events, and becomes the first Latin American nation to be awarded World Cups. Las Vegas hosted the World Cups for both disciplines in 2005, 2007 and 2009.

“The bids to host the 2015 FEI World Cup™ Jumping and Dressage Finals from Guadalajara and Las Vegas, which has hosted the FEI World Cup Jumping and Dressage Finals in the past,  were both very strong,” Ingmar de Vos, FEI Secretary General said. “We were extremely happy to see that the bid from Guadalajara was much improved since they withdrew their application for the 2014 edition.

“The FEI Bureau is also happy that the World Cup Finals will travel outside the traditional continents to Central America when it goes to Guadalajara in 2015.”
