CANNES, France, June 10–NÜRNBERGER Versicherungsgruppe, a top German dressage sponsor, has become an official partner of the Exquis World Dressage Masters by adding a €25,000 (US$35,000) rider bonus for the four annual events with total prize money of €400,000 (US$560,000).

The WDM rider bonus challenge begins immediately with the Cannes event that starts Thursday and will conclude with the 2010 Munich, Germany World Dressage Masters. The two partners signed an agreement to provide the bonus for three years.

The world’s richest dressage series already offers €100,000 (US$140,000) for each of the four annual shows — Palm Beach in Florida, Munich, Cannes, France and the season finale at Hickstead, England.

NÜRNBERGER has a long tradition with the NÜRNBERGER Burg-Pokal, the most famous dressage series in Germany. Many European, World and Olympic champions have had their roots in NÜRNBERGER Burg-Pokal competitions.

Anthony M. Kies, WDM Chief Executive Officer, said he is thrilled about this new partnership.

Starting with the WDM show in Cannes this week and ending with the Grand Prix Freestyle in Munich in 2010, NÜRNBERGER will reward the best rider over these shows with a bonus of €25.000 (US$35,000).

Pferd International in Munich, held at the 1972 Olympic Stadium that has been completely refurbished to provide top footing and spectator facilities, will be the richest WDM show in 2010 with a total of €125,000 (US$175,000) in prize money.

Exquis World Dressage Masters is a new sports and marketing concept in dressage, an initiative of Exquis and the international sports marketing agency, SportBizz. Both entities are based in The Netherlands.

WDM aims to address the problems of international dressage–lack of prize money, minimal television coverage and limited marketing progfessionalism.
